Meet our MNsure Navigators: Veronica and Moraya

RSS will always be available to the uninsured. It is in our vision statement that EVERY child be free of dental disease.

But RSS is now working hard to help MN families of all backgrounds get health insurance (not just dental) through the MN Care marketplace.

We are pleased to introduce to you Veronica and Moraya, two MNsure Navigators who are new members to the RSS staff. They have each completed the 45-hour navigator training mandated by the state to help our families navigate the confusing and time-consuming process of getting healthcare.

Our process is simple and it’s a win-win for all those involved. After we finish an on-site school clinic, we reach out to those families who received care but are uninsured. This is done via phone and text, often in the language they speak (Veronica is fluent in Spanish). We help set up appointments and guide them through the process of choosing and obtaining the right plan for their families. Some of these families, with verifiable identities, get approved on the spot. These families often have no deductibles and minimum co-pays. They can see medical professionals as needed, and we can bill our services through their insurance. Win, win.

Some MN public schools employ these healthcare navigators, but RSS has a presence in many preschools and charter schools. These students now have the navigator resource through us.

MN Care is now available to undocumented families or mixed-status families. Although the current climate may deter some families from sharing personal information with the government, we can still inform them of their rights and health care options.

Having two MNsure Navigators on our team is another way RSS is providing a service to our families. We are able to better cover our expenses, and our families are more resourced, connected, and hopefully healthier because of it.
